Running August 13-15, an exhibition and conference focused on street art and its role in engaging public space.
We are bringing in the works of an international selection of artists who typically make use of the streets to showcase their work. We have also sought artists that re-appropriate the public realm, attempting to take charge of their media space.
Artists will be asked, along with submitting artwork, to present some form of documentation of their other works as well as their process in order to illustrate via pictures, video, sketches, words, etc, the scale and context in which the artist typically works in public space.

Kat Crosby has a new body of work on display at the Jill Celeste Gallery in Oakhurst. The show opens on June 5th, Friday night at 8pm. I hope everyone can join me at the reception!
The new work is a body of photography focused on the street "Boulevard," a main thoroughfare of Atlanta dubbed one of the most violent streets in our city. The work analyzes the elements of the street in stills empty of human occupation, creating a portrait of the space. Atlanta's recent upsurge in violent crime has created a charged political climate in our city. By studying the street Boulevard, I am highlighting an area often avoided and overlooked because of its dangerous reputation. Come join in the discussion.

From April 4th to April 19th, MINT Gallery will be showcasing an unusual gallery of artwork featuring pieces by a range of artists from all over the country. Each piece being featured is based around their mutual love of cult films and is either inspired by or pays direct homage to a specific film.
The goal of the show is an opportunity for artists to “give something back” to all of the crazy movies that have helped form who they are aesthetically and culturally.
The show will open with a reception and viewing party on Saturday, April 4th at 8PM.
We Are Going to Eat You (whose title is derived from the sleazy tagline to the notorious 1979 Italian zombie classic, Zombie) is the brainchild of Atlanta residents, Eric Weber and Millie De Chirico. Both employees of Turner Broadcasting, the duo were instrumental in the development and launch of the late night cult movie franchise on Turner Classic Movies, TCM Underground. Launched in October 2006, TCM Underground has aired many important titles that are considered essential viewing by cult film connoisseurs – titles like Russ Meyer’s Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!, Suspiria, Blood Feast, The Honeymoon Killers, The World’s Greatest Sinner and many more (some of which had never been aired on national television before).
The collection is also inspired by two gallery showings of movie-inspired artwork called Crazy 4 Cult at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. Wanting an East Coast representation of this theme spawned the idea of We Are Going to Eat You.
The show will feature original pieces created in a variety of mediums ranging from photography and painting to needlepoint and sculpture. Contributors will include several Atlanta-based artists as well as showcase works by new and talented artists from Seattle, Los Angeles, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland.
