With songs driven by both strong lyrics and intricate guitars, John Carrie and Moor Green’s style borders between both the familiar folk and a stripped down rock that can cause your skin to shiver.
An Irishman who honed his craft on the streets of Barcelona, Berlin, London and New York, the then-solo Carrie soon called Amsterdam home, and recorded his first EP, “Release,” with drummer Gary Leatherland there in 2004. A year later, bassist Karl Griffiths and pianist/vocalist Sjoerd Spoelstra joined the group, which was then renamed John Carrie and Moor Green.
The band has shared stages with southern favorites The Immortal Lee County Killers and the Kings of Leon, as well as John Spencer’s music project Heavy Trash. Having received the Winston Pop Prize, the group has also enjoyed various live sessions on both national and local radio stations.
